The wonderful Zillertal Valley is home to a number of ski areas totalling 625kms of piste, all on one lift pass! At the start of the valley, Mayrhofen has long earned its place as one of the world’s top ski and snowboard resorts, with 2 ski areas – Ahorn and Penken. Between the entrance of the valley and the Hintertux Glacier you’ll find a further 4 ski areas providing a tremendous variety of terrain to explore. With a lively nightlife and an attractive Tirolean centre Mayrhofen has everything you’ll need for a fantastic ski holiday.

You can also access the Mayrhofen ski area from the resorts of Finkenberg and Zell am Ziller


Public Transport:-

Local ski-buses run every 15 mins and are free to those with a ski-pass for the Mayrhofen area. Trains run every hour and all trains and ski-buses are free for those with a Zillertal Superski pass. A local bus service operates between Mayrhofen and local villages.



In SE Tyrol, forming the S point of a triangle with Salzburg (95 mls NE) and Munich, Germany (75 mls NW).
At the end of the Ziller Valley, just before it splits into 4 smaller side valleys.

2 cable cars and 1 gondola located in Mayrhofen, taking skiers to 2 ski-areas. These link into 23 further lifts (chairs and drag) plus the Finkenberg village gondola to Penken slopes. Mayrhofen has 3 ski-schools, operating on both Ahorn and Penken, with students meeting at relevant lifts before lessons. Penken is used for advanced classes. Skiers can buy a ski-pass covering the Mayrhofen slopes only or there is the Zillertal Superski pass covering a wider valley area. A recently opened cable car provides access to Ahorn.

One of the mountain’s hot spots for snowboarders is the Gerent ridge, otherwise the Penken offers wide open cruising terrain. The Vans Penken Park is at the ‘Hintertrett’ and has been regularly extended.

Apres Ski

Mayrhofen has one of the liveliest après ski scenes in the Alps with a wide range of bars and discothèques in action through in to the small hours.

The ‘Ice Bar’ at the Hotel Strass and ‘Nikki’s Schirmbar’ are top spots for the afternoon, whilst ‘Scotland Yard’ and ‘Brücke’s Schlüssel Alm’ are the best to take you late into the night.

A very wide range of shops that run the length of the main street with Banks, Post office and supermarket.
